September 8, 2006 - Mount vs Fordham

Mount 29 - Fordham Prep 22 The Mount St. Michael Mountaineers opened the 2006 season with an exciting 29-22 victory against Fordham Prep. Offensively, junior quarterback Jayson Holt had an outstanding game, accounting for all four scores. Jayson scored on runs of 1 and 94 yds. and threw two touchdown passes to senior wide receiver Andrew Thomas and senior running back Michael Petrellese. Defensively senior DT Steven Berger, senior NG Isaac Burke senior DT Jose Monge all played steady.

September 16, 2006 - Mount vs Chaminade
Mount 34 - Chaminade 20 The Mount St. Michael Mountaineers enjoy a big 34-20 win over Chaminade. At Chaminade, senior Michael Petrellesse rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns of 60,42 and 38 yards on just seven carries. Junior QB Jayson Holt added 54 yards and a touchdown and senior Chris Ogando had a 47 yard interception return for a touchdown. Senior Andrew Thomas added 4 extra points as the offense behind a strong offensive line rushed for 342 yards on 41 carries. The defense came up big all day forcing 5 turnovers. The defensive line pressured the QB into 3 interceptions, by juniors Brian Agyin, Douglas Watterson and senior Chris Ogando as well as recovering 2 fumbles.

September 23, 2006 - Mount vs Holy Trinity
Mount 7 - Holy Trinity 21
Mountaineers play poorly as they go down to defeat vs. a good Holy Trinity team. The offense was hurt by too many penalties and poor execution and defensively poor tackling and big plays led to this defeat. Mount's only score came on a Michael Petrellese 13 yard run late in the fourth quarter.
October 1, 2006 - Mount vs Holy Cross
Mount 14 - Holy Cross 0 Mount improves its record to 3-1 as it wins in a defensive battle vs. Holy Cross. Mount scored both touchdowns early in the first quarter as Jayson Holt scored on a 1 yard run and Linebacker Cavar Reid had a 30 yard interception return for the second Mount score. Jayson Holt kicked both extra points. The defense played well swarming to the ball all day and containing the Holy Cross offense.

October 7, 2006 - Mount vs Msgr. Farrell
Mount 28 - Msgr. Farrell 6
After four weeks on the road the MOUNT returns home with a convincing 28-6 win over Monsignor Farrell. The Mount played one of its better games of the year as the offense had a good day gaining over 400 yards while the defense limited Farrell all day. Outstanding performances on offense were turned in by Jayson Holt and Michael Petrellese as well as the offensive line as they played very well as a unit. The entire defense played well as they swarmed to the ball all day.

October 14, 2006 - Mount vs St. Anthony
Mount 27 - St. Anthony 34
In a very well played game Mount comes up short against number one St. Anthony’s losing 34-27. St. Anthony’s scored first after a Mount turnover but Mount battled back all night as the offense scored on its next possession making the score 7-6.at the end of the first quarter. After trading scores the Mount scored with five seconds left in the half to make the score 21-20 St. Anthony’s at halftime. St. Anthony’s scored twice in the third quarter and again Mount battled back but came up short at the end.

October 21, 2006 - Mount vs Iona Prep
Mount 42 - Iona Prep 14 Mount plays real well in all phases of the game as they beat Iona 42-14.Iona went up early in the game taking a 7-0 lead on its first possession but the Mount offense responded going up 14-7 at the half. In the second half the defense came up big limiting Iona’s offense while the Mount offense continued to score as they pulled away in the fourth quarter. The final score of the game came with under one minute to play as LB. Pliney Nivens returned a fumble 90 yards for a touchdown.

October 28, 2006 - Mount vs St. Joseph
Mount 18 - St. Joseph 14
Mount St. Michael Academy improves record to 6-2In a hard fought game Mount holds on for an 18-14 win over St. Joes by the Sea. Mount scored first in the second quarter to go up 6-0 but St Joes responded to take a 7-6 lead at the half. On its opening possession of the third quarter Mount took the lead going up 12-7 but St. Joes again came back to take a 14-12 lead in the third quarter. Mount took over the lead for good in the fourth quarter going up 18-14 and then the defense stepped up and made two key stands to secure the win.
