MOUNT advances to the Finals

Mount won its semi-final game vs. Chaminade 20-14 to advance to the CHSFL city championship. Chaminade scored first when they picked up a Mount fumble and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown. Mount did not let this get them down as it came back to score on its next possession to make the score 7-6 Chaminade. The Mount scored again just before the half to take a 14-7 lead at halftime. In the 3rd quarter the Mount capitalized after an interception by senior Arvell Harris to make the score 20-7. Chaminade then scored with five minutes left in the game and then recovered the on sides kick to make it an exciting finish. The Mount defense came up big down at the end as they stopped Chaminade to preserve the win.

Mount overcomes Holy Cross 35-7

In a first round playoff game on Sunday, November 5th, the Mount win was a big team effort to beat Holy Cross 35-7. Holy Cross opened up the scoring on its first possession to go up 7-0. The Mount bounced right back as they scored on its first possession and took the lead after the two point conversion was good. The Mount defense then came alive and gave the offense the ball in good field position. The Mount scored just before the half to take a 15-7 lead. The opening kickoff of the third quarter was returned 85 yards by Michael Petrellesse to make the score 22-7 and the Mount never looked back as they scored twice more after that.

Athlete of the week

This weeks outstanding performance was turned in by junior safety Brian Agyin who had two interceptions with one leading to a Mount score in the second quarter. Brian also had numerous tackles as he performed well the entire game.
